Thinnai Palli was created for the children of Puliyanoor village located at the foothills of Javadumalai. These evening classes give children the freedom that they don’t get from their parents or teachers. It is a relaxing space where they can share the conversations from their worlds, their beliefs, their talents and their interests and hobbies. From school homework to games that pop into their minds, children enjoy all of it at the Thinnai Palli. Located in the heart of the village, under the shady porch of a tile-roofed house, the Thinnai Palli is a delight for all children.
There is training at regular intervals for children in various disciplines such as painting, music, drama, linguistics, handicrafts and sports. This initiative is an important part of the relationship between the village and the Cuckoo Forest School. It has blossomed into a wonderful space where every evening for about two hours the children gather to talk about their independent thoughts and also study their school lessons. Volunteers who come to Cuckoo Forest School share their life experiences with the children here. It is a collective, fun space for a child to overcome his or her reluctance and fear.
